Elmira's Civil War is a prison camp operated from July 6, 1864, until July 11, At the end of the war, each prisoner was required to take a loyalty oath and given a train ticket home. In the movie, we saw Luke in Elmira prison. Emma, John and Jonas made escape plan.

On April 12, 1861 General P.G.T. Beauregard, in command of the Confederate forces around Charleston Harbor, they opened fire on the Union garrison holding Fort Sumter, garrison commander, surrendered the fort and was evacuated the next day.
Gettysburg
In 1863 the battle of Gettysburg was a three day battle in Pennsylvania. An estimated 51,000 soldiers were killed, wounded, captured, or listed as missing after Gettysburg. In the movie, Lincoln wrote the Gettysburg Address. John Gieyzer was having nightmares of the war!
Harpers Ferry
